STEM Club relaunched in October with a number of new members from Year 7-9. During the first few weeks we explored architecture, with students completing several construction challenges. In the first challenge, students built a tower from straws and competed to see whose tower could hold the most mass. In the second challenge, marshmallows and spaghetti were used to see who could build the tallest tower.
Lastly, students had to design and build a bridge out of K’Nex to fulfil a tight design brief given by Mr Paull. After half-term, students have been working to design, build and code a Mars Rover using Lego Mindstorms. In up-coming weeks, the rovers will be challenged to complete a number of obstacle courses. STEM Club runs on Wednesdays, 15.30 – 17.00 in S2. Speak to Mr Bailey, Mr Gasper or Mr Drew to get involved!
