Admission for Students
From 14th December 2016 to 25th January 2017, Bungay High School is seeking views about its proposed admissions policy for the 2018/2019 school year. This will only affect any student currently in Year 5 or below.
We are proposing to make a minor change to our admissions policy, specifically to change the Published Admissions Number (PAN) for Year 7 to 165. This is a sensible adjustment which reflects the demographics of the area.
A copy of our draft admissions policy and criteria is available on this, if you would like more information.
If you would like to express your views on this change, please email the Headteacher on email@example.com. The consultation closes on 25th January 2017.
Bungay is a friendly school with a great atmosphere and we welcome applications from new students who wish to join our school community.
Before you make an application, we strongly recommend that you visit the school during the working day so that you can appreciate our ethos, attitudes to learning and the resources available to enable your son or daughter to achieve their potential. If you would like to do this please contact the Head’s P.A. who will be happy to book you on a ‘Tea and Tour’ with the Headteacher. In addition you are welcome to attend our annual Open Day in October, when teaching and pastoral staff will be available to answer your questions and short presentations will be given in the school hall.
If you decide that Bungay is the school for your child, you will need to complete an application form. Different arrangements may apply depending on the age of the student. For a copy of the Disability Access Policy click here
Entry at the start of Year 7 (transition from primary to high school).
An online application can be made through Suffolk County Council and the deadline is usually at the end of the October prior to entry. You will be advised in March whether you have been awarded a place and then I will write to you with details of our transition arrangements.
In-Year Application (mid-year 7-11)
You will need to print out the school application form, complete it and send it into school marked for my attention. It is important that you read the guidance on the Suffolk County Council website before completing our application form. We will also accept the Suffolk generic academy application form (ADM1), though we may have to ask for further information to proceed. If you do not have access to a printer, copies of the application form and guidance are available from the school office. If a place is available I will then call you to arrange a start date and discuss any needs or preferences to ensure your child has a smooth start at Bungay High School.
We look forward to hearing from you.
